day in the life for families

because nothing is better than real life

Your life. Your home. Everything that’s undeniably you.

There is zero chance that you will wear matching outfits, while sitting in an awkward lineup in your living room, smiling at the camera.

Instead, your home is the space where we will create memories that represent nuances of YOUR reality.

Unapologetically unprompted and unposed.

A Day in the Life session is your every day. Even if you feel that life is mundane and boring, I’ll show you that there is an extraordinary uniqueness that is true to your family—even in the most ordinary moments.

A year from now, you’ll be glad you have photographs of today.

Because when the crumbs and chaos of the day settle into quiet introspection and you recall the funny frustration of how he insisted on wearing his shoes on opposite sides of his feet when you were trying to get out the door, you won’t regret having your own album-worthy spread of that entire frenzied scene.

"I wasn't sure how my son would handle having Felicia around for our half day session. I worried that she would only be able to capture my kid hamming it up for the camera with his "Chandler from Friends" grin, but my WORRIES WERE ALL UNFOUNDED.

She was able to capture COMPLETELY NATURAL, HILARIOUSLY ACCURATE, and ADORABLY IMPERFECT MOMENTS."

Hiring me means more than just hiring a photographer.

I’ll be part of your family, at least for a little while. We’ll talk, laugh, and share (sometimes a little too much!) because I want to learn about what truly defines your family.

When shit hits the fan, I’ll be there to empathize and agree that this parenting gig is HARD. And then we’ll laugh about our shared struggles as well.

Inviting me into your family is you offering the ultimate trust in me, and I take that trust seriously in capturing the most intimate of moments: affection, joy, silliness, tears, tantrums, and vulnerability.

Come as you are, reality and all. I’ll hold your hand through everything.

"

Owning our story can be hard, but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it . . . only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light. When we find the courage to share our experiences and the compassion to hear others tell their stories, we force shame out of hiding and end the silence."

THE DAY IN THE LIFE EXPERIENCE

o1.

how to prepare

get ready for a stress-free photo experience.

We’ll start with a phone conversation and chat about what you’re hoping to get from the session and how I can deliver that for you.

On our scheduled date, I’ll arrive at your home (and will likely hug you at the door!) or location of your choosing. We’ll spend 4–12 (or more) hours together, depending on the package you choose, and get to know each other as the day goes on.

I promise, it's easy peasy. There is not much for you to do except carry on as you normally would. No photographer-guided itinerary or outfits to consider. Wear your housecoat, favourite neon t-shirt with holes in it, or mis-matched kid-approved outfits.

After all, these represent exactly who you are when you are most comfortable.

And that is gold to me.

how to book

when you are ready (with questions or to inquire), simply contact me!

I know how busy family life can get. Sometimes, a phone call is easier than the back and forth of email, so let me know a time that is convenient for you and I can reach out. It's always so nice to put a voice to a name.

DAY IN THE LIFE: TRAVEL SESSIONS

Family adventures are such a big part of what we do as a family, but most of the time, I’m the one taking the photographs so I’m never IN them. Sound familiar?

Put yourself in the picture.

Go beyond handing your camera to someone for a quick snapshot in terrible lighting where everyone’s squinting and underexposed, or your heads are cut off.

You pick the place, and I’ll show you what a magnificent time you had together.

Brave the unknown—because not all grand adventures happen in the living room.

how it works

I’ll travel with you on your family vacation adventures, to reunions, adoptions, to your home (outside of Vancouver), or anywhere else that’s meaningful to you.

The session fee of $1500 includes:

  • Unlimited hours of coverage for one day (custom quote provided for multi-day)

  • Online slideshow (video clips not included) to share

  • Online gallery to proof, share, and order products

You’ll provide:

  • All (planes, trains, automobile) transportation
